Hosted annually by LARAC, the awards bring together representatives from local authorities, waste contractors, and industry to highlight the achievements of those leading the way in recycling and sustainability.

As a key voice for the EPS industry, the EPS Group shares LARAC’s commitment to driving progress in recycling, resource efficiency, and circular economy practices. Sponsoring the event reflects the Group’s ongoing support for collaboration between local authorities and industry to improve the collection and recycling of EPS across the UK.

EPS continues to play a crucial role in the circular economy, providing lightweight, durable, and fully recyclable packaging and insulation materials that help reduce energy use, prevent food waste, and lower transport emissions.

In 2024, the EPS industry achieved a 61% recycling rate for EPS packaging in the UK, a significant milestone that demonstrates the industry’s progress and commitment to sustainability. However, the EPS Group recognises that even greater results can be achieved through stronger collaboration between local authorities, recyclers, manufacturers and policy makers to expand collection networks and recycling capacity nationwide.

The LARAC Dinner and Awards offer a valuable opportunity to celebrate the dedication of local authorities and their partners who are driving progress in recycling, reuse, and waste reduction. Delegates took part in live discussions using EPS Group sponsored voting paddles, symbolising the spirit of engagement and partnership that drives progress in recycling across the UK.
